Riveiro responds to supporters' criticism over Bucs form

Head coach Jose Riveiro has weighed in on criticism from supporters following a poor run of results that has seen Orlando Pirates win one match from their last five.

The Buccaneers have come under fire recently over the side's poor run of results that sees them languishing in 13th place after eight league matches, with only two wins to show.

Additionally, Pirates have scored just four goals in their last five matches across all competitions. The recent results have left sections of supporters at odds.

Speaking to media after Pirates' loss to Richards Bay, Riveiro however, insisted that it is normal for supporters to be displeased.

"I don't have an opinion about the fans' opinion," Riveiro said.

"Fans are fans, it's normal. We lost, they must be upset. It's normal, even when we win. When we win, the fans are upset because I didn't play this player and I played the other one.

"Everyone has opinions in football. Even you guys (the media). But there is nothing I can do, the only thing I can do, is sleep well, eat well, recover because on Tuesday we have to compete again.

Next for Pirates is a DStv Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United to be played at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday evening. Babina Noko are 11th on the DStv Premiership table after 10 matches.

"We continue to the next one. We play on Tuesday, which is great, we continue with this rhythm of playing every two days, so we are all busy," Riveiro added.

"We have to show character on Tuesday in Orlando. We have a tough game against Sekhukhune and that's it."

Kick-off is at 19:30.
