With the most Man of the Man awards under his belt this season, Orlando Pirates attacker Monnapule Saleng has revealed the secret behind his electric form
Saleng is has had a sensational season for the Buccaneers this season, contributing 14 goals and five assists in his 25 appearances across all competitions, despite missing out on the first nine games of the season.
The 25-year-old has also stepped-up for his side when needed most, including scoring a match-winning free-kick in the final of the MTN8 against AmaZulu and he believes the secret behind the performances that have earned him ten Man-of-the-Match awards is on the training field.
"I think it's the way I train, Saleng told PiratesTV.
"I'm a hard worker when you've given me an instruction to do something. I'm able to do it with an open heart even. If I'm told to run for 90 minutes, I run for 90 minutes.
"I'm a hard worker, That's just how I am. I don't need someone else to push me, I push myself.
"I don't wait for the coach to tell: 'hey run! Do this [or that], I do it myself and then the coach will guide me here and there but I'm like that.
"After every game, I want to feel like I've worked hard. I've been like that since I was a child. My father always told me that I should always fight to be number one. In whatever I do, I should fight to be number one."
