Appollis back with smiles

Oswin Appollis reported back for duty at Polokwane City on Thursday and was training with a smile on Friday morning ahead of the club's opener in the Betway Premiership.

Appollis was on Bafana Bafana duty for most of the past fortnight, during which he scored twice in the AFCON qualifier against South Sudan.

The 23-year-old has been a subject of transfer talk with MC Alger having shown interest.

However, the order of operations with the Algerian champions in their pursuit of Appollis ultimately led to nothing transpiring.

Johnny Mogaladi, the Polokwane chairman, has been unshaken with all the transfer talk that hasn't come with written offers to consider for his star man.

In recent days, there has been further speculation of interest from Kaizer Chiefs, who have confirmed their admiration but have yet to turn it into a formal approach.

Appollis' value is on the up based on what he has done for the Limpopo club and Bafana Bafana, with whom he has won five caps this year, and this means Amakhosi will have to stretch their hands wider if they are to succeed with this acquisition.

Appollis joined the rest of his club teammates at the Ranch Resort on Thursday after travelling back from Juba, where he scored twice on Tuesday in the 3-2 win over South Sudan.

Polokwane players have been in camp since Monday preparing for their opener against AmaZulu FC at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (20:00).

The former Pretoria Callies winger was amongst the group of goalkeepers and strikers that had a session on Friday morning.

Manuel Sapunga also returned to Polokwane on Thursday after having travelled to Equatorial Guinea for their AFCON qualifiers against Algeria and Togo.
