New revelations on Chiefs, Esperance-linked Appollis

The biggest reason why Polokwane City are unwilling to entertain offers for Oswin Appollis, who is linked with Kaizer Chiefs and Esperance, could have been revealed.

Appollis attracted interest from bigger clubs following his breakthrough to the Bafana Bafana set-up under head coach Hugo Broos, following impressive performances for City.

The likes of Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old.

Amakhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi is believed to have recommended for the club to make the speedy winger one of their priority targets.

However, Esperance de Tunis appear to be the club showing the most interest for Appollis' signature, as they have reportedly sent an official offer that was not responded to by Rise and Shine hierarchy, even after it was improved.

Nabi has since come out to reveal that clubs in the PSL are unwilling to sell players to them, with City seemingly one of them.

KickOff has been reliably informed that Appollis has been left frustrated, as he appears to be facing at least more months at City, who are gearing up to open their season against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals this weekend.

According to a source close to the matter, the 22-year-old's body language has even changed at training, contrary to a statement made by coach Phuti Mohafe, who updated the media during the launch of the MTN8.

The head coach revealed that to the best of his knowledge, Appollis is staying put at the Limpopo side, if he does not get an overseas offer, and that his mind is still with the team.

"The player [Appollis] is frustrated because he wants to move, even his body language has changed at training," a source close to Rise and Shine dealings told this website.

"The thing is, at this point, with their season about to begin, the Chairman [Johnny Mogaladi] is guarded against selling because he believes it will be difficult to find a replacement for Appollis.

"It is a sensitive issue, but the Chairman is unwilling to sell for that particular reason. His reasoning apparently is where will he find his replacement at this stage of the season?"
