The 34-year-old spent two productive years at Polokwane between 2014 and 2016 with his performance then earning him a move to SuperSport United on an improved deal.
In his first season, Alexander played 32 games in all competitions and scored four goals under Kosta Papic who took over from Boebie Solomons earlier in the season.
It was the season in which he was also called up for Bafana Bafana.
His second year was also solid, putting in 26 appearances under Papic, caretaker coach Makweni Mayala, and Julio Leal.

Stuart Baxter then recruited him to SuperSport United where he lasted 18 months before moving to Bidvest Wits then Odisha (India), Kaizer Chiefs, and Helsingborgs IF (Sweden).
Alexander played seven games and scored once during the time he spent in Sweden as Helsingborgs escaped the drop from the Swedish second tier league.
