In the last 16 months, Mabena has only played 15 minutes of football which came during his strange second spell at Orlando Pirates last season.

How Mabena came to leave at Pirates at the beginning of 2023 remains a mystery considering the options that the Bucs had in the position he plays.
The veteran forward is now back in the Limpopo province 14 years after he left Winners Park to join Pirates in a career that then took him to Platinum Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Royal AM.
His new employers are Polokwane City.
Mabena has been training with Polokwane for several weeks now, but has had remuneration-related matters that he has needed to iron out with the club.
There are also money-related matters related to the 3-2 defeat to Golden Arrows that has created tension at the South African outfit.
Meanwhile, Polokwane now also have Mozambican international Manuel Kambala on their books.
Kambala is remembered as the man who broke the hearts of Kaizer Chiefs' fans when his equaliser for Baroka denied Amakhosi the league title on the last day of the season three years ago.
After his departure from Baroka, Kambala spent the past season at Magesi, but he has now moved on to Polokwane City.
