A South African football Great has made a bold claim about him being a better player than the legendary Jomo Sono.
Mlungisi "Professor" Ngubane agrees with what Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba said on the Sitting Down With Stan show presented by top broadcaster Robert Marawa on SuperSport.
Mashaba said Ngubane was a better player than Sono.
According to former Bush Bucks star, football politics is what made the name 'Jomo' more popular than 'Professor'.
"Yi-waar leyo [that's true], even Mjomana [Jomo] knows," Ngubane tells KickOff.com.
"Mjomana was my favourite player. I used to enjoy watching Jomo.
"But there were so many things I would do with the ball he couldn't do.

"It's just that I played for Bush Bucks in KZN, Jomo played for Orlando Pirates. Remember everything used to happen in Jozi then.
"But I don't deny Jomo was a talented player as well.
"But me I used to do things you ended up seeing in the likes of David Beckham, Maradona and Ronaldinho.
"I was extraordinary when it comes to talent. It's just that in South Africa we had that problem of treating people from other provinces as outcasts.
"They even erased the footage of a goal I scored against Hellenic in a league game. Up to today, they have never seen another goal like that. All broadcasters don't have the footage.
"It was a long throw-in and the Hellenic goalkeeper came and punched it directly to my right foot, but instead of using my right foot to fire a shot I decided to wrap my left foot at the back of my right one and hit it with the left...
It was a volley. I was standing outside the eighteen-area box. The ball never touched the ground. That was a beautiful goal.
"Gavin Hunt was there playing for Hellenic. I'm sure he will remember the goal I'm talking about. It was around 1985.
"I could pass a 45-drive ball behind defenders, Mjomana couldn't do such. He preferred running with the ball and dribbling.
"That's what puts me ahead of Jomo. Let's leave this thing of saying he played overseas because those opportunities were only given to Joburg-based players."
