Polokwane City failed to regain third spot in the Betway Premiership after a goalless draw with Marumo Gallants FC on Sunday afternoon.
Langelihle Ndlovu and Ndaumelo Maphangule were noticeable additions by City, whilst Tshepo Rikhotso, Lebohang Mabotja, Monde Mphambaniso earned a recall for Gallants.
The host who had a positive start against leaders Mamelodi Sundowns midweek, looked to settle first through a free-kick by Daniel Msendami, but it went over the top.
Rise and Shine weren't out of sight and should've gone in front when striker Sibusiso Tshabalala dragged a decent opening from close-range narrowly wide.
Gallants still rode their luck near the half-hour mark and were sliced open as Oswin Appollis cutback on the left to see Simon Ramabu's shot come off the upright and back into play.
After halftime, the match remained tense though Rise and Shine remained buoyant and continued to stretch host all-round.
Ramabu still showed persistent energy despite the glaring miss in the first spell, as the host battled to hold a solid line and keep the balance of play.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa renewed their attack minutes in the second half and substituted Sede Dion to bring on well-travelled Gabadinho Mhango.
Phuti Mohafe's men still carved out the lion share of chances though as a half-volley by Tshabalala in the box from a cross by Oswin Appollis forced Washington Arubi to a save.
Appollis looked to take matters into his own hands towards the final ten minutes through a snap shot outside the box, but ended up going wide of the mark.
The Bafana Bafana star remained the go-to-guy and came in on the right to tee-up substitute Bonginkosi Dlamini for an easy finish, but the latter went way wide.
With the result, Rise and Shine missed the chance to regain third spot on the table as Bahlabane Ba Ntwa remained in 14th position.
