Orlando Pirates fought back in the second half to secure a 2-1 win over Cape Town City in the Betway Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
Pirates named two alterations as Thalente Mbatha replaced Kabelo Dlamini while Bandile Shandu came in for Paseka Mako, with development graduate Mbekezeli Mbokazi named on the bench.
Relentless spell of pressure by the Buccaneers saw them spread attacks across the front-three through Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi and pinned the Citizens.
Having absorbed all pressure, City were ahead against the run of play when Haashim Domingo finished off a delivery from Petrus Tijueza.
Pirates struggled to get through to the adversaries around the final stages of the half as Deon Hotto's free-kick bounced straight off the defensive wall.
Tijueza, who assisted the opener aimed to go on himself and lashed out a rasping shot from a decent area, but Sipho Chaine got down and palmed the effort away.
Mbatha attempted to level matters shortly after the break with a strong low shot outside the box, but he was denied by opposite number Darren Keet.
Pirates continued finding the going tough as the Citizens continued to sit deep, absorbed the pressure and play out on the counter-attack.
Coach Jose Riveiro switched to the bench inside the closing stages and introduced Mohau Nkota and Goodman Mosele for his first start of the season.
Nkota's entry proved decisive when he darted in on the left of the area and cutback for Tshegofatso Mabasa to tuck past Keet and levelled matters.
Fellow substitute Mosele joined in two minutes to fulltime and scooped in from close-range after seeing his initial effort bounced off the top of the woodwork.
The Buccaneers ran down the final minutes and collected the win to keep the pressure on league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
