SuperSport United missed the chance to move out of the relegation zone after playing to a 1-1 draw against Polokwane City on Saturday afternoon.
Matsatsantsa interim coach Andre Arendse made two changes from the draw with Marumo Gallants, as Lyle Lakay made way for Neo Rapoo at left-back while Vincent Pule came in for Siviwe Magidigidi.
Rise and Shine, meanwhile, only had a single alteration as Nyakala Raphadu joined the attack following the loss to Sekhukhune United last weekend, with Puleng Marema dropping to the bench.
The visitors got off the mark in the 20th minute when Christian Saile bagged his third league goal of the campaign with a lovely header from close-range.
However, Polokwane were afforded a lifeline in the 38th minute after being awarded a penalty for Nyiko Mobbie's foul on Bonginkosi Dlamini, which allowed Lebohang Nkaki to step up and calmly slot home the equaliser from 12 yards out.
The hosts were dealt a big blow seven minutes after the break as star man Oswin Appollis was forced off with an injury and replaced by Marema in the attack.
The visitors looked to get themselves back in front after the break, with Bradley Grobler heading wide of the mark after the hour mark while Saile was denied by a superb save by Polokwane goalkeeper Brian Bwire.
Neither side were able to find a winning goal in the closing stages, which was not good enough for SuperSport who remain in 15th spot despite Cape Town City not playing this weekend.
