Struggling Chiefs rescue a point at Galaxy

Kaizer Chiefs will remain outside of the top of eight in the Betway Premiership after netting late to secure a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy.

Amakhosi brought in Njabulo Blom, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma among the changes after the defeat to Polokwane City, as Gaston Sirino missed out through injury.

Chiefs battled to play out of the pressing-traps carried out by the host and turned over possession at great rate with the guilty party a certain Inacio Miguel.

Victor Letsoalo came close to break the deadlock inside the midway point with a first-time curler on the edge of the area following Kamogelo Sebelebele's deep run, but went wide of target.

Chiefs came alive before the half-hour mark and snapped a golden chance when Ashley Du Preez side-footed wide of the near post following a loose ball.

The visitors were made to rue that miss ten minutes to the break after the inability to deal with a corner allowed Samukele Kabini space to leap over the defence and head into the bottom-corner.

Mfundo Vilakazi, Ranga Chivaviro and Tebogo Potsane came on for the visitors and had Du Preez, Blom, and Wandile Duba removed by coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Chiefs were extremely revived minutes from the break with a number of box entries through Vilakazi in particular, but the starlet couldn't turn the defence at the rate required.

The Glamour Boys continued to push relentlessly in a quest to conjure up a comeback, but were unable to penetrate despite the effort from Vilakazi and Potsane.

Unlike the first spell, the Rockets weren't overly adventurous but absorbed all pressure thrown their way pretty successful and more than anything frustrated the Soweto giants.

Chiefs were close to levelling in stoppage time from a long throw-in by Reeve Frosler, but goalkeeper Ira Tape leaned back and palmed away.

As the pressure continued, the Amakhosi got a response when Chivaviro tapped in on the goal-line following a corner by the home team in the sixth minute of time added on.
