Magesi FC started life under new coach Owen da Gama with a goalless draw away to TS Galaxy on Saturday afternoon.
Dimakatso Komape replaced the suspended Lehlogonolo Mokone for Magesi, as Galaxy recalled Macbeth Mahlangu and Kganyana Letsoenyo.
Rockets experienced a bright opening where Thato Khiba got a chance to make the breakthrough from the left of the area, but he fluffed his lines.
Khiba was given another opportunity in the tenth-minute opening from the same position with the delivery supplied by Victor Letsoalo, but again dragged beyond target.
The tempo rolled onto the visitors who enjoyed their first sight on goal in the opening-quarter when Tshepo Kakora's snap shot from Kayden Rademeyer's ball nestled narrowly over the top.
Magesi weren't done showing resolve in the closing spell of the first half and saw Bafedile Baloyi head over from the area after feeding on Komape's cross.
Former Kaizer Chiefs man Kgaogelo Sekgota, who earned a rare start for the visitors was removed at halftime by new coach Owen Da Gama and replaced by Motsie Matima.
The match were rather even after the break with the opportunities reduced to an extreme as a tight nature across all rolled in the fray – leaving matters keenly poised.
Galaxy engineered a quick fire opening later on where Mpho Mvelase found space in the box and steered a corner from Marks Munyai narrowly wide.
Mvelase turned provider a minute afterwards and teed-up Lebone Seema to let go from the centre of the box, but he failed to bother Elvis Chipezeze.
No winner came though despite the moments either side, as the Carling Knockout champions string of defeats ended.
