Bucs sink Galaxy to move six points clear

Orlando Pirates made it six wins from six matches in the Betway Premiership after defeating TS Galaxy 2-0 on Tuesday night.

The Buccaneers recalled Kabelo Dlamini ahead of Patrick Maswanganyi while the injury of Deano Van Rooyen granted James Monyane a start at right-back.

It's been a flying start to the season for the Buccaneers, with the Rockets struggling at the end of the table but looked to register first with a flying shot from Mpho Mvelase though he went wide.

Pirates remained defiant and were ahead in the 16th minute as a long-range strike from Thalente Mbatha from outside the area took a deflection and sailed through the hands goalkeeper Ira Tape.

The Rockets' were put in further jeopardy on the half-hour mark and needed to bring on Nkosikhona Radebe for Thokozani Sibanyoni.

However, the host looked to put up a fight despite trailing following a succession of efforts from a distance involving youngster Samukele Kabini and Puso Dithejane.

Mbatha went close to adding a second goal minutes before halftime through a half-volley on the cusp of the area, but Tape produced a fine save.

The Rockets were energised after the interval and pinned the Buccaneers to their own half with a number of overloads but ultimately failed to hit target.

Rising star Mohau Nkota, who just come off a man-of-the-match display against AmaZulu on Friday, looked to continue his rise through a surging effort but Tape got behind it.

Fellow starlet Relebohile Mofokeng did the honours this time around when he collected a loose ball way out of the box and thumped in the top corner for his first league goal.

The Rockets were dealt a blow in added time with Kamogelo Sebelebele dismissed for an indiscretion as the Buccaneers marched to victory to remain at the top.
