Chippa United ended a five-game winless run in the DStv Premiership after defeating Golden Arrows 2-0 on Saturday evening.
Former SuperSport United man Siyabonga Nhlapo made his debut for the Chilli Boys, whilst Abafana Besthende had Nhlanhla Zwane, Lungelo Dube and Knox Mutizwa in the starting line-up.
Chippa should've gone ahead in the opening minute through a first-time effort by Augustine Mulenga following a cutback, but he slammed over the top.
The KwaZulu-Natal based side bounced back a few moments later and had a teasing move from a goal-mouth scramble leave the Chilli Boys in a spot bother though Mutizwa and co didn't capitalise.
Midfield maestro Ronaldo Maarman got the host ahead before the 20th minute when he lined-up for a free-kick outside the area in a decent position and found the top corner.
It should've been two to the home team barely a minute later as a first-time strike from Mulenga ricochet off Bradley Cross and cracked off the upright before re-entering play.
The Chilli Boys looked to hold onto the advantage and went searching for more early in the second half through a succession of shots from range by Goodman Mosele, who was unable to profit.
Abafana Besthende very nearly levelled through a sitter by Nduduzo Sibiya following a cross-field pass, but Stanley Nwabili got the slightest of touches to steer the danger.
Chippa refreshed their playing stall 12 minutes ahead of fulltime and saw Mulenga sacrificed for Ayabulela Konqobe, as the match remained evenly poised.
Konqobe took a while to get going but made an impact with the last kick of the game when he beat the offside trap to set-up Craig Martin to slot in the second and confirmed their win.
