Chiefs clinch first league win under Ntseki

Kaizer Chiefs registered their first win of the DStv Premiership season with a 3-0 victory over AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

The Amakhosi welcomed back Ashley Du Preez from the disappointing loss to TS Galaxy as he replaced Ranga Chivaviro whereas Usuthu dropped Augustine Kwem and started Bonginkosi Ntuli.

Chiefs were keen to lay down the marker and did so in the third minute when Pule Mmodi attacked a loose ball in the area  and volleyed in the opener for his first goal for the club.

With the confidence high, the Amakhosi stretched the visitors through the overloads from Yusuf Maart, Potsane, Du Preez and the goal-scorer Mmodi but couldn't get a sight on goal.

The difficult opening didn't unsettle Usuthu, who managed to find momentum late in the half before Ethan Brooks slammed a loose ball in the area wide of the mark.

AmaZulu were on the attack again as Tshepang Moremi beat Given Msimango out on the right and cut inside to force a low save from Brandon Petersen on the brink of halftime.

Moremi was in again five minutes after the break when he chased down a high ball up-field before turning over on the half-volley.

Chiefs, though, extended their lead ten minutes in when Potsane played a superb back-heel for Mmodi to run into and poke beyond Mothwa at his near post.

It was all the host who looked to consolidate matters with Njabulo Ngcobo and Dillon Solomons introduced from the bench, whilst Usuthu chased a comeback.

However, the Amakhosi made it three when Edson Castillo charged in at the near post to head in the far post right after he had a similar effort thwarted by Veli Mothwa.

The final minutes saw no further goals, as the Glamour Boys claimed their first Premiership win of the season with Usuthu still winless.
