Golden Arrows handed SuperSport United their first loss of the DStv Premiership after running out 3-0 winners at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Bradley Grobler, who was a second half substitute against Stellenbosch FC, was recalled to the SuperSport line-up, while Arrows were unchanged from the triumph over Polokwane City.
Matsatsantsa were keen to hit the front earlier on as Saturday's match-winner Grant Margeman played in a penetrative delivery to the area though it was safely smothered.
SuperSport kept up the continued pressure and had Margeman in on goal again when he combined with Lyle Lakay off the near side before seeing his attempt miss the actual target.
The bright start was jeopardized after the visitors were ahead following the half-hour mark as Lungelo Nguse managed to get on Nduduzo Sibiya's far side delivery to put Arrows ahead.
Matsatsantsa coach Gavin Hunt made two substitutions before the second stanza, as Ime Okon replaced Siyanda Xulu and Kegan Johannes dropped out for Etiosa Ighodaro.
Those arrivals revitalised the host who camped in the opposite half and had Abafana Besthende goalkeeper Ismail Watenga off his goal-line to thwart Grobler profiting off a pin-point supply.
However, the KwaZulu-Natal outfit doubled their lead 12 minutes after the break as a delightful build-up pattern saw Angelo Van Rooi pounce to finish beyond goalkeeper Ricardo Goss.
SuperSport enjoyed late momentum and threatened when Grobler's telling attempt brought Watenga to a save before seeing the follow-up come off the woodwork.
Abafana Besthende bagged a third goal with three minutes to go as Ryan Moon charged in at the near post and fired in from the tightest of angles to wrap up the win and send his side up to second spot on the league table.
