SuperSport too strong for Sekhukhune

SuperSport United registered a 3-1 victory over Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership on Friday evening.

There were no changes provided by the host following their midweek win over Royal AM, as Sekhukhune did likewise in their playing personnel after their 2-0 victory against Orlando Pirates.

SuperSport showed their intentions in the opening 15 minutes and took the lead when Bradley Grobler sneaked in at the far-post and turned home a pin-point cross from Jamie Webber.

Kaitano Tembo's boys began to camp in SuperSport's half later on and relentless shots outside the box by Victor Letsoalo and Nyiko Mobbie brought sharp reflexes from goalkeeper Ricardo Goss.

Although, SuperSport's threat from the corners remained and they doubled their lead four minutes before halftime as Ditlhokwe tucked into an unguarded net following a goal-mouth scramble.

Ditlhokwe could've had a brace following a low cutback into the area on the stroke of halftime, but he blazed over from a clear angle to profit.

Sekhukhune entered the second period with three changes in Thamsanqa Masiya, Wonderboy Makhubu and Pogiso Mahlangu, as they look to get themselves back into the contest.

The host still had the lion's share of play and nearly made it three when Jamie Webber, who had a goal disallowed in the first half. shaved the woodwork through a curling free-kick.

Matsatsantsa eventually added a third goal with over ten minutes from the break as Thamsanqa Gabuza pounced on a lay-off in the area from Grobler and fired in the roof of the net.

Sekhukhune reduced the tally midway in the second half through a snap finish from a tight angle by Masiya after the host struggled to hold their lines.

The match became pretty even inside the latter stages as Babina Noko provided a lot of forward passes, while at the other end Ghampani Lungu stung the gloves of Badra Ali Sangare.

However, the host managed the overall play in the closing seconds effectively well and ensured the win with Sekhukhune still winless on the road this season.
