In this edition of Locker Room Secrets, Coldrin Coetzee allows KickOff into the change room of the now defunct Platinum Stars.
Coetzee says he enjoyed his football at Platinum Stars because he played most of his games there.
Who was always late?
"Ha,ha... Back then, it would be Mbulelo Old-John Mabizela, him, and Joseph Mkalipa. They were always late at Platinum Stars. Mkalipa it was always his car, he always had a problem with his car. He was driving a small old Corsa, so it was either a lack of petrol or the car refusing to start. That was up until he bought himself a Golf 5.
"And Mabizela he was one of those senior players who would wake up late. He used to change on the field, not in the change room."
Any interesting rituals before they played?
"Most of them would listen to music, Thuso Phala used to dance to music before he played, and Muzikayise Mashaba would sit by himself in a corner listening to music.
"Dillon Sheppard, you can't talk to him before a game, otherwise, you would disturb his focus."
Who was the jokester?
"Jabu Mahlangu was the one who used to crack jokes. But the main one was Ryan Botha. He would hide your soccer boots before training."
Was it a muti change room?
"We prayed. The muti stuff was done behind our back."
Who was the singer?
"Joseph Mkalipa loved to sing. He would lead us."
Who was the best dressed, and who was the worst dressed?
"The best dressed should be Thabiso Monareng and Edward Williams.
"And the worst dressed should be Mkalipa because he always used to wear tracksuits, ha ha ha! Him and George Mofokeng. I have never seen them in any other clothes, they were always wearing tracksuits."
Who never showered?
"Siyabonga Mpontshane. He never showered with us at training. He would just get dressed and go home. The thing is, he used to have ropes of different colours around his body and waist, they were for protection, so the guys would tease him about that."

"Steve Komphela's motivation was always the best. He made you believe you can be the best you can be."
