'I won my first trophy with Sundowns'

In this edition of My First, KickOff speaks to Mamelodi Sundowns legend Sandile 'AK-47' Ndlovu, who shares his experiences on various milestones in his life and career.

My First School:

"I attended Nichols Primary School in Edendale, Pietermaritzburg. I was six years old at the time, and I still remember how nervous I was. My sisters were in the upper grades, so I always cried when they dropped me off at my class."

My First Kiss:

"[Laughs] I was 10 years old when I experienced my first kiss. We were playing house with my friends when Mbali kissed me out of nowhere. I still see her walking around the streets to this day, and she remembers everything too. But we are adults now."

My First Favourite Club:

"Kaizer Chiefs. I was once a Khosi fan."

My First Child:

"My first child was born in 2002. He is a boy."

My First Soccer Boots:

"I received my first pair of soccer boots at the age of 10. My mom worked at a school, so she would get different kinds of boots from white people. The first pair I had was a brand called Tempo. They were a bit heavy, like the Jomo Sono King, but they were a good brand nonetheless."

My First Red Card:

"I never received a red card in the PSL, I was a gentleman on the pitch."

My First Own Goal:

"I've never scored an own goal [laughs]. I always played up front, and I was even scared to defend during corner kicks because of that."

My First Goal:

"My first goal was against Kaizer Chiefs while playing for Dynamos, scored against Rowan Fernandez. We lost that game 4-1 in 2004. Scara Ngobese was showing off that day [laughs]."

My First Individual Award:

"My biggest individual award was the PSL Players' Player of the Season in the 2004/05 season."

My First Trophy With A Club:

"I won my first trophy with Sundowns in the 2005/06 season when we claimed the league title."

My First Car:

"My first car was a Golf 4 GTI. I don't remember the exact cost, but I was paying R4000 monthly while I was at Sundowns."
