Cape Town Spurs have clinched promotion to the DStv Premiership after drawing 0-0 with Maritzburg United, who will be playing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season.
With all to play for, United called on Tumelo Njoti in place of the suspended Travis Graham whereas the Urban Warriors missed top-scorer Ashley Cupido due to a suspension as well.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship boys did manage to have the first sight to goal on five minutes when Therlo Moosa scooped a high-ball from a throw-in over target.
Both teams did enjoy sufficient last third entries though ahead of the half-hour mark but failed to crack the intended target and saw matters remain evenly poised.
Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah was on hand for a decent opening for the host inside five minutes to halftime where he directed a free-header wide of the mark following a pin-point cross.
Spurs launched a clear scare on the stroke of halftime as unmarked Moosa nodded a flick-on from a throw-in narrowly beyond the bottom-corner.
The Team of Choice made a substitution after the interval, with Njoti sacrificed and flying full-back Tebogo Tlolane brought on from the dugout to brighten up the attack.
Maritzburg got a smart opening two minutes after the halftime break when Bradley Cross headed a surging delivery from the right well over target.
It became end-to-end during the earlier exchanges of the resumption, with chances coming both ends though the decisiveness in the final third lacked tremendously.
The opportunities continued coming either side before the close of play, but the deadlock still proved elusive as the result saw Spurs promoted to the top flight and Maritzburg demoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
