In this edition of Secret Footballer, a player from a PSL club discusses the uncertainty that the January transfer window brings for those whose contracts are about to expire.
The January window is known to be a tricky period, as opposed to end of season when all clubs are actively looking to bolster their squads.
"The January transfer window in South Africa is a stressful time, especially for us playing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship," reveals the footballer.

"Instead of focusing on my game, I worry about where I will be playing at the end of the transfer window deadline.
"Even now, my contract ends at the end of the season, and in the recent transfer window I was feeling very stressed. I survived the transfer window, but I'm still concerned about the remaining five months of my contract.
"I have been with the club for two years. Although I was a regular player at the beginning of the season, I don't even make the line-up anymore," he adds.
The secret footballer says his club is yet to communicated about his future, and coupled with the fact he doesn't have offers on the table, stress levels have skyrocketed.
"It's tough in the NFD because even the coaches are uncertain about their futures at the clubs, so they can't assure you of your future. Teams often delay negotiations, which is even worse when they have an option on you.

"Right now, I don't even know if my option will be renewed. I've decided not to approach the club management about this, as I don't want them to think I'm becoming a nuisance."
