Reputation damage at stake for Mosimane

Pitso Mosimane has been told to consider reputational damage in making the choice of his next job after what happened in recent times.

Mosimane has been known to be a coach who holds onto jobs having spent lengthy periods in his gigs at SuperSport United, SAFA, and Mamelodi Sundowns, before leaving for Al Ahly, where he spent two years.

Since his time at Al Ahly, Mosimane has won promotion with Al Ahli Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, then across the border to Al Wahda in UAE, before relegation with Abha in Saudi, while his last job was with Esteghlal in Iran.

Of concern is that none of his last four jobs lasted even a year with his time in Iran ending with unpleasant sentiments from the club.

"Pitso is still held in high esteem here in Egypt as someone who worked at Ahly," says Egyptian agent Amr Hosni.

"Based on money that he was earning at Ahly, where coaches get a lot of money, it means his options in this market are limited if he is going to come at the same money.

"He was recently linked with Zamalek because of the good work he is known to do.

"I think he is now in need of a stable project, where he will stay long, instead of the ones that he has had, which run the risk of soling his reputation.

"It doesn't look good that he has been to so many clubs in such a short period.

"I feel Pitso has his reputation at stake now.

"He is not a fly-by-night coach.

"I feel it would make sense to consider the South African market or a national team job where he will work for at least three years.

"The project has to be right for him instead of the jobs that he has had, where it seems he has not been trusted by his employers," says Hosni.
