Downs v Bucs compared to El Clasico

The upcoming Betway Premiership encounter between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates has been compared to one of the biggest derbies in world football.

Pirates and Sundowns do battle in a hard-to-call league match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

The two teams are expected to go neck-and-neck in the league race this season, with the Tshwane giants enjoying a six-point lead at the top, though having played a game more than The Buccaneers.

According to Benson Mhlongo, who played for the two giants, this fixture is comparable to the famous Spanish derby.

"This one is a tough one. Battle of the titans, two teams that are on song," Mhlongo says.

"It's a bit tricky because the two teams play different type of football. Pirates is more attacking and there's lot of skill involved, and Sundowns are settled but deadly.

"So, this is written 'draw' all over it. It's gonna be a very tactical game. Both of them are gunning for a win.

"This game will test the intelligence of the two teams' players. If, as Pirates, do we know how to break a tactical, disciplined team like Sundowns? And if, as Sundowns, we will be able to stand the pressure that Pirates is going to throw at us?

"These two are the best teams in the country right now. When you talk about Pirates and Sundowns right now, you are talking about Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"There is no boss here between the two. It's a very tactical game. It's Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield."

Kick-off is at 15:30.
