'We are not going back to Mvela'

In this week's edition of Supporters Forum, Magesi FC number 1 fan Jeremiah 'Mjereza' Mokgahloa explains the reason why his favourite club has collected only two wins in 16 matches.

For a month, the PSL newbies were one of the most feared teams in the PSL after they clinched the Carling Knockout trophy in their first season in the PSL, beating favourites Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.

Two months later, they find themselves fighting for survival in the Betway Premiership as they sit second from the bottom of the 16-team league.

"Nothing wrong really in our game, it's just that back then PSL teams were undermining Magesi, and now they are taking us seriously," Mjereza reveals.

"They only took us seriously after we won the cup. That's when every team started pulling up their socks when facing Magesi.

"As a new club in the league, there is no way we would have taken things easy in such an opportunity, before the Carling Knockout we had never played in a major cup competition.

"We might be struggling and sitting at the bottom of the log table, but we are not going back to Mvela (Motsepe Foundation Championship)," Mokgahloa adds.

"As the club's supporters, we are concerned about losing the league games, but the club promised us everything was going to be okay, and indeed, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

"As for Clinton Larsen's departure, that's part of football, coaches will always come and go. Football is business.

"His replacement, Owen Da Gama is a very good coach. We are always behind him. We love him. I like his attacking football. We've been scoring first in most of our matches. That's a positive."
