However, the Natal Rich Boyz have moved swiftly to offer the 24-year-old defender a new two-year deal.
Mabuya has been linked with a move to join SuperSport United during the off-season, but the side led by Vusimuzi Vilakazi has done enough to convince the player to remain in KwaZulu-Natal during the 2024/25 season.
Furthermore, Richards Bay are expected to announce a new sponsor and a business partner during a press conference in Durban on Wednesday.
"Richards Bay has flown some of the journalists from Gauteng to Durban through a marketing company for the big announcement. A new businessman is coming in.
"There is also a big sponsorship announcement," said a source.
The club has already signed striker Thabiso Kutumela, midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe and goalkeeper Ian Otieno to bolster their squad for the campaign set to start in August.
