R80 000 salary for returning PSL striker

Richards Bay's struggles in the DStv Premiership this season have forced the club to turn to Malawian striker Khuda Muyaba.

Muyaba – who was previously with Polokwane City, has signed on a deal running until the end of the season and joins after having last played for Syrian club Tishreen FC during a stint that lasted only three months last year.

The hard running striker will widen the options for Richards Bay as they seek to avoid relegation-related issues having scored 15 league goals for Polokwane during the 2021/22 season in the first division.

Richards Bay sit second from bottom.

According to Malawian newspaper, The Nyasa Times, Muyaba will earn R80 000 at Richards Bay during his short-term deal running up to the end of the season.

The Malawian international will also get a signing on fee in the region of R170 000 after turning down Clube Ferroviario de Beira from Mozambique.

The same publication also reports that Muyaba recently indicated that he would not sign for a Malawian club unless he was paid R19 000 after returning from Syria late last year.

Muyaba was also recently in the news for taking his former employers Polokwane City to FIFA for breach of contract.

Polokwane were then immediately slapped with a transfer ban after failing to pay Muyaba as per the judgement.

However, they have since settled the matter allowing them to be active through the current transfer window which is why they have raised a hand of interest in Mozambican striker Stanley Ratifo.

Ratifo is currently playing fifth tier league football in Germany.
