Vilakazi: I will not point people with guns

Vusumuzi Vilakazi has raised his hand for the vacant head coach position at Richards Bay.

Vilakazi has been appointed as caretaker coach at Richards Bay following the departure of Kaitano Tembo.

The former Golden Arrows coach registered his first victory as a coach for the Natal Rich Boyz when they beat SuperSport United by 3-1 during the DStv premiership match played in Durban before New Year.

The Kwazulu Natal-based outfit remains second from the bottom of the league log with only 13 points from 16 games.

Vilakazi faces a mammoth task of collecting more points if hopes to keep his position at Richards Bay until the end of the season.

"I will take it", said Vilakazi when asked about his ambition of being a permanent head coach at Richards Bay.

"I am working for myself (to be considered).

"I have ambitions. It's not an opportunity that I can turn down.

"Why would there be a reason not to take it? But again it's not a position that I will point people with guns to be appointed as a head coach.

"No, it's management that will decide if  I remain interim or become head coach one day or not," he added.

Richards Bay visits Polokwane City for their next league match in Polokwane on Valentine's Day.
