MaMkhize declares ambitious plan to WIN DStv Prem title as early as next season

Royal AM chairman Shauwn Mkhize has declared her side's ambitions of challenging for the DStv Premiership title as early as next season.

'Mam'Mkhize' may not be too far off in her estimation, the ambitious KwaZulu-Natal outfit finished third in their debut season behind Cape Town City and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Although Thwihli Thwahla's current campaign has been marked by turmoil, the Mkhize maintains her plans to challenge for the DStv Premiership title remain in place.

"I want Royal AM to not just be a number, I want Royal AM to win the league at some point and that's my dream," Mkhize told Sports Night Amplified With Andile Ncube.

"I had a three-year plan. Yes, Maduka [leaving the club] disturbed me. Yes, the CEO [Sinky Mnisi leaving the club] disturbed me but that three year plan is still in motion.

"The three-year plan was simple,[in the] first year I wanted to save the club's status. In the second year I wanted to finish in the top seven third that year I wanted to compete [for the premiership title] and it still stands.

Mamelodi Sundowns have ruled the DStv Premiership with an iron fist in recent years. With 56 Points after 22 games, the Brazilians are well on their way to lifting a sixth consecutive title, but MaMkhize believes her side has what it takes to unseat Abafana be Style.

Thwihli Thwahla will face Golden Arrows on Saturday in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup before travelling to Tshwane to take on the Premiership defending champions on Tuesday.

"Let's watch the game on Tuesday then we'll see [if Royal AM can match Sundowns], but I'm telling you, next year I'm going to compete [for the title]," added Mkhize.
