MONEY, MONEY, MONEY: Nurkovic’s disputed contract at Royal AM

As Samir Nurkovic gets down to work with his latest employers SuperSport United, KickOff.com can reveal the juicy details of the disputed contract which has left Royal AM with a transfer ban.

Nurkovic has signed with SuperSport until the end of next season after surprisingly cutting ties with TS Galaxy in September.

His stay at TS Galaxy came after 16 months without playing football, during which time he got entangled with Royal AM.

The Serbian's issues with Royal AM have been the reason why the club now has a FIFA-imposed transfer ban in a multi-million-rand worth case, which he has won at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

While the matter remains unresolved, KickOff.com can disclose the gross figures of the package that the 32-year-old signed for at Royal AM, which was a huge improvement to what he earned when he joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2019.

The figures of the package that Royal AM agreed to with Nurkovic are as follows:

-R5 040 000 for the first year (July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023)

-R5 280 000 for the second year (July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024)

-R5 520 000 for the optional third year (July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025)

Nurkovic's package would also include bonuses according to the team scale, suitable accommodation and round-trip tickets between Durban and Belgrade.

The Serbian was only ever paid R245 943,91 on November 11, 2022, which was three days after filling his claim with FIFA and seven weeks after playing in the Macufe Cup.

This information is contained in the 21-page arbitral award by CAS, which classified Royal AM's appeal at CAS as inadmissible with all other and further motions and prayers for relief dismissed.

Nurkovic's CAS award calculates to approximately R10,5 million before the cost of arbitration to be determined by the CAS Court Office and other costs.

The Serbian had claimed the full worth of the three-year contract at R15,8 million, but FIFA's award came up to the value of two years.

Royal AM are yet to pay and remain banned from making any transfers.
