Royal AM's latest transfer ban update

Royal AM will negotiate the remainder of their season in the DStv Premiership skating on thin ice near the bottom, with their FIFA imposed transfer ban remaining in place.

According to the latest update from FIFA issued on Monday, the KwaZulu-Natal outfit now remain the only club serving the initial sanction of a transfer ban following their failure to adhere to the world governing body's rulings on the matter of Ricardo Nascimento.

Nascimento won the case that he took up to FIFA after several months of unsuccessful attempts to find a solution to his litany of grievances contained his contract which included unpaid winning bonuses amongst others.

The Brazilian is owed R600 000 (plus 5% interest per annum effective from September 2023) and with failure to settle it means Royal AM will not be able to make new signings until next year.

Nascimento is now doing duty for Rio Branco Esporte Clube in the 2024 Campeonato Paulista A4.

Two weeks after Royal AM issued a statement explaining how they came to be banned and their plan of action, they have not made any inroads.

"There have been no further developments on this case by Royal AM to us or to FIFA," discloses Pedro Felipe Gomes da Silva, partner of RA Law firm based in Sao Paulo, Brazil who represent Nascimento.

This means Royal AM haven't made all due payment to Nascimento as per FIFA's ruling.

Neither have they provided proof of payment for what they claim they paid having abandoned the case with CAS meaning this transfer ban will not be getting uplifted anytime soon.

In the meanwhile, Royal AM must avoid getting sucked into relegation related matters.

The John Maduka coached team sits on 18 points from 15 games just five better than Richards Bay who are in the relegation play-offs spot.

Cape Town Spurs are further down with four points from 16 matches.
