The Shaun Mkhize-owned club have moved swiftly in extending the former Orlando Pirates midfielder's contract by a further year.

"Thabo Matlaba is staying at Royal AM. He is happy to stay in KwaZulu-Natal and continue his career at Royal AM," a source tells KickOff.

Meanwhile, Royal AM are also close to securing the signature of left-back Lebohang Mabotja from the relegated side, Marumo Gallants.
