Unsavoury scenes as Royal AM remove player from first-team training

The behind-the-scenes turmoil at DStv Premiership side Royal AM continues as midfielder Moffat Mdluli was allegedly threatened with the use of security as he was removed from first-team training.

As revealed by KickOff, Mdluli had been instructed to stop training with the Royal AM first-team squad after being deemed surplus to requirements.

Mdluli was allegedly threatened to be physically removed from first-team training by security while being asked to leave.

"The General Manager showed up while the team was training and ordered Mdluli to leave training in full view of all coaches," a source within Royal AM reveals to KickOff.

"He was threatened [to be removed physically] with security personnel.

"After a long discussion, he finally agreed to leave and went to train with the reserve team.

"Mdluli has been ordered to bring his agent to the office so that they can discuss the termination of his contract."

This is the latest incident in a chaotic start to the season for the ambitious DStv Premiership side that puts a spotlight on the decision-making of the club hierarchy.

In recent weeks, co-coach Dan Malisela has departed the club with fellow coach Khabo Zondo having to dismiss rumours of his own exit.

Club chairman Andile Mpisane has bizarrely been included in the playing squad while clearly being overweight while question marks hang over his playing credentials.

The Durban-based side has continued to grab the headlines for the wrong reasons as it languishes in 7th position in the standings after making big-money transfers.

Royal AM general manager Richard Makhoba has refused to comment on the claims.
