The South African Football Association (Safpu) insists Samir Nurkovic has a valid ongoing contract that Royal AM should respect amid uncertainty over the Serbian's future at the club.
Nurkovic has so far not featured in an official match for Thwihli Thwahla with sources revealing the club have requested a salary cut as he nurses an injury.

"That is not allowed, unless the club sit down with the player and says we want to reduce your salary because you are not playing," Safpu deputy secretary general Calvin Motloung tells KickOff.
"It will be absolutely between the club and the player.
"It will be up to the player whether he agrees to take a salary cut or not.
"When it comes to his injury, they signed him knowing he was carrying an injury from last season.
"How I wish our South African players can learn from the foreign players and not entertain salary cut offers because we plan our lives around our contracts.
Royal AM refused to comment when contacted.
