Amajimbos coach Molefi Ntseki taking no shortcuts in Amajimbos' preparations for Egypt clash

The South Africa U17s have assembled in the north African country ahead of their second-leg CAF Youth Championships fixture against the Egyptians, having won the first leg 2-1.

Ntseki put his charges through their paces in the blazing heat of the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Thursday afternoon as his side finalises their tactics ahead of their important match-up.

Temperatures in the mostly desert country are hovering around 37C degrees but instead of remaining under cool indoors temperatures, Ntseki drilled his boys for more than an hour, practising mainly set-pieces.

“We are not here on holiday but to work and doing this is part of acclimatization process,” said Ntseki.

“I know it looks unfair to the boys to expose them to this unrelenting heat but who says sweet achievements come on a silver platter; you must sweat and struggle for victory.”

The aggregate winner of Saturday evening’s encounter, scheduled for 7pm, will qualify for the African Youth Championships, which will be hosted by Niger next year.

The top four teams from that tournament will then represent the continent at the World Cup, to be hosted by Chile in South America.
