Amajimbos get down to business

Amajimbos arrived in Niamey, Niger on Sunday - almost a week before the start of the tournament - in order to acclimatise to the extreme weather conditions in the tiny West African nation.

The team held their first training session at the Niger Federation technical centre on Monday morning under roasting heat as temperatures reached 32 degrees Celsius. The team trained on astroturf as some of their matches during the tournament will be played on an artificial pitch.

“The boys are now settled and we are on track with our preparations. There is still work to be done as the boys need to get used to this extreme heat,” said coach Molefi Ntseki.

Amajimbos will play their last friendly match ahead of the tournament against Niger Under-17 on Tuesday, 10 February 2015 at the Municipal Stadium, which is one of the two venues for the 2015 CAF AYC.

Amajimbos are drawn in Group B of the AYC and their fixtures are as follows:

16/2 vs Ivory Coast
19/2 vs Mali
22/2 vs Cameroon
