Bafana Bafana edge Comoros in CHAN qualifier

SAFA have confrimed that coach man Helman Mkhalele went with a youthful squad for the first leg.

The South Africans still came away with a goal and a clean sheet after Khulekani Shezi's second-half goal secured the win on Friday night.

"A Khulekani Shezi goal in the second half was enough to give a youthful Bafana Bafana selection the needed win in their away first round, first leg African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Comoros on Saturday evening," SAFA.net reported.

"The second leg will now be played on Saturday 30 July 2022 at Dobsonville Stadium at 15h00. In Saturday's tie, South Africa dominated play in both halves of the match but lacked the much-needed final touch to bury their opponents. The visitors created plenty of chances but could not deliver the final blow that would have made the result more comfortable.

"Comoros tried to fight back by applying pressure of their own, but South Africa remained resolute in the rearguard to deny them those scoring opportunities as they held on to their lead."
