Last month, Banyana emerged as champions of the continent for the first time at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after beating hosts Morocco 2-1 in the final.
With that success, Banyana have now moved up to 54th on the global standings.
They were 58th in their previous rankings released in June.
Despite their success, Banyana still remains second on the continent behind Nigeria who are 46th on the latest FIFA rankings.
The Super Falcons dropped from position 39 following their disappointing showing at the WAFCON.
Banyana's best-ever ranking was in 2018 when they reached position 48.
The USA remains the top-ranked country.
Zambia was the biggest climber moving up 23 places to position 80.
The August edition of the FIFA rankings has 185 member associations.
The next edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women's ranking will be published on October 13, ahead of the draw for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Saturday, October 22 has been set as the draw date in Auckland, New Zealand.
Banyana will be joined by Morocco, Nigeria, and Zambia at the World Cup next year (July 20-August 20).
