Banyana Banyana suffered a 3-0 defeat to South American champions Brazil in an International friendly on Friday evening.
The home nation started a host of their key players from the Women's Africa Cup of Nations success in Jermaine Seoposenwe, Andile Dlamini, Noxolo Cesane, Linda Motlhalo and Refiloe Jane.
Banyana Banyana sat back in the opening stages and the spell of pressure from Brazil nearly resulted in a breakthrough as Adriana de Silva headed wide at the back-post after latching onto a cross.
More scary moments for Banyana followed and needed a point-blank save from goalkeeper Dlamini to parry a first-time shot from Geyse Ferreira and Kerolin most notably.
Banyana soaked up the early pressure and worked their first meaningful chance from a ball in-behind which found Seoposenwe and she directed the resultant delivery wide.
It was the visiting nation that made the breakthrough three minutes before halftime when Geyse chest down a looping ball outside the area and volleyed in off the underside of the woodwork.
Brazil made it two on the stroke of halftime after Adriana picked up a poor defensive clearance by Bongeka Gamede and slotted in from point-blank range.
The visitors freshened up their stall ahead of the second half, with debutant Beatriz Zaneratto on for Deborah de Oliveira and Micaelly replaced Kerolin.
Banyana had a lively start to the second period and threatened to pull off a comeback from a few balls in and around the Brazilian defence.
Brazil regained dominance midway in the second half when Tamires de Britto finished off a loose ball from a clever angle whilst Banyana struggled to deal with a ball in the box.
The host were then required to make a substitution late on after goalkeeper Dlamini picked up a knock and saw Kaylin Swart enter, whilst Cesane vacated for Thalea Smidt.
In the latter minutes, Banyana targeted a consolation and were close on a few occasions though 3-0 was the final score in Soweto.
