Amajimbos were eliminated from the tournament following their 2-0 defeat to Russia in their final Group E match on Sunday, after previously drawing 1-1 with Korea DPR and losing 2-1 to Costa Rica in their group opener.
Despite the disappointing results, Ntseki was pleased with his charges’ showing at their maiden World Cup campaign and concedes technical frailties proved costly at the highest level of the game.
“When I look at the overall performance of the team, and individuals within the team, I think the roles were carried out very well,” says Ntseki.
“They played more as professionals, even though our challenge has always been the technical aspect of the game, giving away possession, making wrong decisions, etc.
“But I think at this level, there is still room for all of the players to improve and to become quality players.”
Ntseki also added that, provided the players continue working hard to continue representing the country’s national teams, Safa’s technical plan for building towards 2022 is still very much within reach.
“I think if they keep working very hard, and manage and look well after their talents, we’ll have a very bright future in our country,” he says.
“With ‘Vision 2022’, I think with these boys we are on track if we look well after them, but at the same time they look well after themselves so that when we get to 2022 they will be ready to play for our senior national team.”
Amajimbos are set to arrive from Chile at OR Tambo International Airport at 7.20am on Wednesday morning.
