Tlou Segolela, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Surprise Moriri, Jackson Mabokgwane, Surprise Moriri and Solomon Mathe were reportedly being considered for Olympic duty in August.
SAFA has sent snl24.com/kickoff a provisional squad of all the players that are in contention for the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament, and the list includes 17 over-age players.
Segolela, Mpontshane, Moriri, Mabokgwane, Moriri and Mathe are not on the latest list supplied to us by SAFA.
The provisional squad includes a few overseas-based players and Thulani Serero’s name is not one of them.
“We will select over-age players based on the list we sent you, not the one in the media,” insists SAFA communications manager Dominic Chimhavi.
“The one circulating in the media is fake and the one we sent you is the one where the final squad will be selected from.”
SAFA has requested the list not be published and are expected to confirm the over-age players who will take part at the Rio Olympics on April 29.
