Thabo Senong delighted as Amajita qualify for CAF Youth Championships

Taking a 2-0 first leg victory win in Lesotho, Amajita trounced their neighbours 3-0 at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on Saturday, with goals from Liam Jordan, Sibongakonke Mbatha and Zama Rambuwane sealing the 5-0 aggregate win and qualification for the 2017 U-20 African Cup of Nations in Zambia.

Coach Senong feels his side’s progression is a reflection of a bright future in store for South African soccer as all national teams look to remained focused on ‘Vision 2022’.

“We worked hard for this win and I want to thank the Safa leadership of Dr Danny Jordaan for investing heavily in youth programmes and results of all youth teams are there for all to see,” he said after the game.

“Vision 2022 is fast taking shape and this is what is needed for South Africa to be a dominant force.”

Senong also thanked the PSL clubs for their assistance in making players available to help secure qualification.

“I also want to thank the Premier Soccer League whose clubs were very cooperative,” he added.

“Together we will achieve a lot.”

The U-20 Afcon takes place from 26 February to 12 March next year.
