Mayambela was the star as JL Zwane made it all the way to the Final, where they lost 1-0 to Glendene United.
Senong’s praises come after an impressive tournament for the youngster, who also scored six-goals in his six outings in the five-day tournament.
“Tremendous potential,” Senong tells snl24.com/kickoff of Mayambela. “The boy has got a lot of potential, but it is the duty of his club to make sure they develop him further.
“As national selectors, our duty is to make sure we give these players opportunities where it is due. But he is going to spend a lot of his time with his club and that is where they are supposed to complete his development. Hopefully they give him the opportunity to play at the highest level.”
“We will monitor the situation from there and if he deserves the opportunity we will give him the chance.”
The 18-year-ols is currently on the books of First Division club Cape Town All Stars, and is playing in the same league as his 27-year-old brother Mark, who plays for Royal Eagles.
