Fadlu responds to Middle East reports after invincible season

Raja Casablanca assistant coach Fadlu Davids has responded to rumours linking him and head coach Josef Zinnbauer to the Middle East.

Zinnbauer, along with his assistant Davids, inspired Raja to become the first Moroccan side to finish and win the Botola Pro League without defeat, edging Nabi's AS FAR by one point to the title.

As a result, the pair are experiencing a huge revival of their careers, as they could not bring trophies at Orlando Pirates and their spell at Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow did not last long, before they were roped in by the Green Eagles.

Before the German and South African tacticians arrived, Raja had finished 23 points behind FAR in 2022/23, in fifth spot on the table.

The former Pirates coaches have revived the club to new heights after unseating the Rabat-based outfit, who were at the top of the table for the majority of the season.

Zinnbauer's work has not gone unnoticed, as reports have emerged that clubs in the Middle East are interested in his services.

The German has been linked with clubs in the Saudi Pro League, Egyptian Premier League and the Persian Gulf UAE Pro League.

KickOff reached out to Davids to find out if they could be headed to the Arab world.

"There's always speculation, the coach's [Zinnbauer] name. Of course, being invincible, there's always going to be rumours and speculation, but at the moment we still have a year left on our contract at Raja. We have a cup to focus on," Davids said.

"We're focusing on the job at hand, we've already put plans for next season, which is a normal end of the season report, the basics we do as professional coaches.

"And ja, like I said, we still have a year left on our contract."

The duo will be contesting the Throne Cup final against Nasreddine Nabi's men at a date yet to be confirmed.
