Non-stop European joy for ex-Chiefs defender

The agony of chasing trophy shadows throughout all the seven years that he spent at Kaizer Chiefs will soon be wiped out for Siyabonga Ngezana in only his first season away from Naturena.

Ngezana is enjoying weekly jubilation out at Romanian giants FCSB (formerly Steaua Bucuresti).

The 26-year-old's efforts throughout the season now have champions-in-waiting written next to every performance.

Sunday evening was matchday number four of the Championship Play-Offs and delivered yet another set of three points over their closest rivals CFR Cluj.

The 1-0 away win pushed Ngezana's club 13 points clear at the top with both the title and European football just about sealed for next season.

With six games remaining, FCSB now need only six points to secure the title that they last won in 2015.

For Ngezana, it will be his first career silverware and will come on the back of what will rank amongst his best seasons to date.

The towering defender has played 28 games this season for FCSB and, just like has been the case for most of the season, he played from start to finish on Sunday.

It has been a change of fortunes for Ngezana having been an unused substitute in 10 games at Chiefs last season while he was also not in the matchday squad in another four games.
