Another knock on Broos' door

South African winger Gift Links has continued to raise his hand for Bafana Bafana selection with another match-winning display for Aarhus GF in Denmark.

Head coach Hugo Broos could be tempted to have another look at the 24-year-old, who is yet to be named in the national team set-up despite a string of impressive performances.

The latest came in a 1-0 win over Brondby in a first-leg quarter-final clash of the Danish Cup on Sunday.

Links found the back of the net in the 74th minute, which turned out to be the decider.

It was a fourth goal of the season for the tricky winger, in addition to his three assists from 16 appearances so far this term.

He contributed seven assists and two goals in his 36 appearances for the Danish top-flight out in 2023/24 season.

That return led to the former Cape Town City star being included in the Danish Superliga's Team of the Season.

Therefore, Links will be hoping Broos is paying attention even if he is currently back on holiday in Belgium, with assistant Helman Mkhalele tasked with tracking the progress of South African players based abroad.

After all, Broos did concede that the national team would be keeping tabs on the Rustenburg-born lad's progress, though he has not been called up since.

"It's not because today we say he's not good enough that he won't be good enough in a year if he progresses," he responded when asked about the player's absence back in June.

"So, we will follow [him] and see next season. So, for him, if next season he can do the same performances, then okay, then I have to change my mind."
