Rashford: Benni has definitely helped me a lot

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has revealed that South African coach Benni McCarthy has helped him a lot after rediscovering his goal scoring form this season.

Rashford delivered another starring performance for Manchester United on Thursday when he netted in a Man of the Match performance to help the Red Devils claim a 4-2 League Cup 3rd Round win over Burnley.

The England international has now netted eight times in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, already three more than he scored in 32 games last time out, and was quick to credit attacking coaching Benni McCarthy for the role he has played in his return to form.

"He's definitely helped me a lot. To have them attack-minded coaches is good for us in the squad, he's always there speaking to us about these things," Rashford told Sky Sports h/t Utd District.

McCarthy joined United at the start of the season when he was appointed as a first team coach by Dutch manager Erik ten Hag, and previously received praise from other stars such as Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.

"He has brought in, first of all, some humour. He's a very good man, coming in," Eriksen said earlier this season. "You can see that he's helping the attackers to do a lot with finishing, a lot of things.

"Of course, it is early in the season, so there are not many things you are going to pick up as soon, or as quick, but he has come in and I think the group is taking good care of him."

In a separate interview, Fernandes added, "It's been really nice [working with him]. It's a pleasure for me because as a young player, I watched him in Portugal playing for Porto and scoring many goals and it was a joy to see him.

"Having him here now, for many of my friends and family who support Porto, it will be good for them that they can come to Manchester and see him and get a photo with him and everything.

"And obviously working with him, he's a really funny person, always positive, he brings a good energy on the dressing room and on the training ground.

"He was quality as a player and he's quality as a manager because we do many drills, from finishing and headers that he did really well when he was playing, so he can hopefully help us to score some goals."
