Big hit for Ngezana in Europe

Siyabonga Ngezana was back in action on Sunday as he reached a personal milestone through his time in Europe after his injury scare in his last Bafana Bafana appearance.

Ngezana was withdrawn after 74 minutes in the 3-0 AFCON qualifier win over South Sudan with a muscle concern, raising fears that he could be forced out of club action like what happened after the September FIFA dates.

Fortunate for the 27-year-old is that the injury didn't turn out for the worse and he was in the starting line-up for his employers FCSB in their 3-0 victory against FC Unirea Slobozia on Sunday.

The win took the Romanian champions to within three points of top spot.

For Ngezana, it marked his 50th appearance for FCSB since he joined at the beginning of last season.

The former Kaizer Chiefs defender played 31 matches in his first season in Europe and has now reached 19 so far this term, bringing his total to 50.

His half-century mark came with a polished display at right central defence.

With the amount of football that FCSB play, Ngezana has not been involved in 28 matches counting from when he joined the club.

Next up is the Europa League group stage tie against Greek club Olympiakos on Thursday.
