Pitso's Al Ahli Saudi dislodged from top of standings as title race intensifies

Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahli Saudi side were dislodged from the top of the standings by goal difference as the title race and battle for promotion intensifies.

Mosimane's side spent two nights as leaders of the Saudi first division after they laboured on to a 1-0 win over Al Orubah on Monday.

With those three points, Al Ahli shot back to the top of the standings with 43 points building up a cushion of six points in the four promotion positions with 13 games to play.

However, with Al Hazm recording a 3-0 win against Al Qaisoma, it gave them the lead yet again with a better goal difference compared to Al Ahli.

Both Al Hazm (+20) and Al Ahli (+15) have 43 points.

Mosimane has worked his charm at Al Ahli taking them from seventh position with eight points from five games into the comforts of a place in the promotion ranks.

The former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns gaffer has won 10, drawn five and lost once.

Also of note is that Mosimane has never lost two games in a row matches since he left Sundowns to join Al Ahly in October 2020.

In that time, he has taken charge of 112 games.

Mosimane's charges are back in action on Monday with a trip to Ohod while Al Hazm are also on the road to Al Kholood.
