Tokelo Rantie was on target for his Swedish side Malmo

The Bafana Bafana forward put his team into the lead after beating three defenders and firing past the goalie, but was then taken off just past the hour-mark. He will be relieved to get off the mark in the new campaign and will be hoping his goals can drive Malmo’s championship challenge.

Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu got his League season off to the perfect start by helping Helsingborg beat Djurgarden 3-0.

Anele Ngcongca played for Genk as they secured a massive 2-1 victory over League leaders Anderlecht to pull within three points of the top of the table with nine rounds of play-off matches remaining.

Genk fell behind, but showed great character to bounce back for the win and keep their league title hopes alive.

Darren Keet kept a clean sheet for Kortrijk as they drew 0-0 away at Lierse in the play-offs. It was another solid display from the goalkeeper. Daylon Claasen was only on the bench for Lierse.

Phakase Mngadi started for Belgian second-tier side Eupen as they were held 0-0 at home by St Truiden.

Thulani Serero came off the bench to play the final 10 minutes for Ajax Amsterdam in their 4-1 win over NEC that helped his side extend their lead at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie to three points.

Bongani Khumalo did not feature at all for Greek side PAOK as they held league leaders Olympiakos to a 0-0 draw. The former Bafana skipper has started just one league game since the Africa Cup of Nations.

Steven Pienaar was missing through suspension for Everton as they won 1-0 at home to Stoke and it was a dismal Easter weekend for Kagisho Dikgacoi as his side lost 4-0 home to Birmingham City and 1-0 away at Blackpool in the Championship.

The results probably end The Eagles’ chances of automatic promotion, but they are still in the play-off positions as they seek a return to the Premiership.

Kgosi Ntlhe’s Peterborough United moved out of the Championship relegation zone for just about the first time this season as they stunned leaders Cardiff City, though the teenage left-back was not in the match day squad as he continues to work his way back to full fitness.

Bafana midfielder Dean Furman came on at half-time for new club Doncaster Rovers, but could not help them avoid a 1-0 defeat at Coventry City in League One on Friday. He then made his first start in a 1-0 home win over Swindon that consolidates their position at the top of the table.

Darren Holden was also introduced at half-time for Hartlepool United in their 2-0 home loss to Milton Keynes Dons and then started in the 1-0 defeat at Stevenage, results that leaves their relegation to the English fourth-tier a near certainty.

Bafana striker Dino Ndlovu shot a blank for his Israeli team Maccabi Haifa in their 0-0 draw with Maccabi Tel Aviv, while Dani Amos’ Hapoel Kiriat Shmone were held 1-1 by Bnei Yehuda.

That result is a blow to their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League next season.

Siyanda Xulu (Pictured right) was in the heart of the defence for FC Rostov as they lost 1-0 at Dynamo Moscow in Russia. Rostov are now winless in four and deeply embedded in the relegation mix.

Young South African-born defender Michael Travis scored for Scottish third-tier side Arbroath as they won 4-2 at Forfar Athletic to move into the promotion play-offs.

Ricardo Nunes played on the left-wing for Slovakian side MSK Zilina in their 0-0 draw with Spartak Myjava in Slovakia, a role he is likely to fill with more regularity next season.

Lukas Schenkel played for Swiss second-tier team Bellinzola as they won 2-1 against Vaduz to stay in the promotion hunt. They trail the leaders by four points, but do have a game in hand.
