Chiefs defender told to start packing his bags?

Kaizer Chiefs have already started to prepare for next season, with a decision made on one of the Soweto giants' squad members whose future has been uncertain.

The Naturena-based side signed three players in the January transfer window, in Makabi Lilepo, Tashreeq Morris, and Thabo Cele, in addition to the off-season recruitment of seven players.

KickOff.com is led to believe another overhaul is looming at the club come end of season, with a number of players' futures hanging by a thread at the Village.

The club has at least six players whose contracts are expiring in June: Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, George Matlou, Yusuf Maart, Reeve Frosler, and Zitha Kwinika.

However, indications are that they Boys have options on Castillo and Maart's deals, both of whom don't have an urgency for new contract negotiations.

The rest of the other players whose contracts are ending, their futures are currently being finalised.

This website has gathered that Kwinika, in particular, has already been told by management that they regret that his contract, unfortunately, will not be renewed.

The fullback-cum-centre-back has evidently already started packing his bags in search of a new club.

Delivering the sad news to the former Stellenbosch FC captain was relatively easy for Amakhosi, with the player having featured for only 14 minutes under head coach Nasreddine Nabi this season.

However, with other out-of-contract players still part of the core of the team in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals and with a chance to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup in the league standings, the club has reserved judgement until towards the end of 2024/25.

As previously reported by this publication, Frosler has already held talks with Chiefs over a new contract extension and negotiations have been steadily promising.
